Following on from my previous post back in March, I am going to start recommending some good trading/finance books that I have read and tell you a little about why I like them. Not all of the books will be “trading knowledge” based because let’s be honest… they can become a bit boring if you read them all the time.
I am going to start with the fantastic Black Edge by Sheelah Kolhatkar.
Black Edge: Inside Information, Dirty Money, and the Quest to Bring Down the Most Wanted Man on Wall Street is a book that tells the full story of how the US government investigated the legendary trader, Steve Cohen, in their attempt to prosecute him for insider trading crimes.
It is a fantastic read because it is written in the style of a classic thriller novel but it is all based on true events and information from the case against Steve Cohen and SAC Capital. I particularly liked how the author includes aspects of the insider trading allegations as well as the life of Steve Cohen outside of this which includes serious wealth and extravagant spending.
According to many, this book and the story behind it is the real version of the hit TV show Billions. There are definitely a lot of similarities between the life of Steve and Bobby Axelrod (played by Damian Lewis).
The price of the book is only £7.99 on Amazon Prime and I think that is excellent value for money. It is a very good holiday read or one for bed time.
